WHAT IS BUBBLEGUM MUSIC ?

Is bubblegum music a certain time frame in the 60's ?

Is it the greatest music you love so much that you want to sing and dance to these songs everytime you hear them because they all have a special sound that makes you recognise that hit immediately. Could it be the organ part that's played over and over again ? {the riff }

Do these songs make you happy because the lyrics {words } are so easy to remember ?

When it comes down to it …..who really cares if the group played the instuments on a particular song or just sang on it or if studio musicians played in the making of that hit record……….didn't you just love the song and group so much you just went out and bought it !!!!! even though the group didn't even exist.?

Could these songs be the biggest selling songs of all time and the greatest music ever recorded for generations to come ? Tell us what you think bubblegum music is ……before I start singing Yummy Yummy again and again.

Americas answer to the beatles?

Perfected marketing and packaging for a pop group that was fabricated for a tv show ?

The monkees were the beginning of bubblegum pop , they had a certain sound and appearance that identified their early records. Their first hit single LAST TRAIN TO CLARKSVILLE was released before the tv show, that record was the beginning of things to come……they were the right music product at precisely the right time.

The monkees had everything to offer the record buying public by way of their new innovative tv show which premiered their record releases with every episode.

The kids loved their show and bought monkee records and merchandise, they could identify to something new and of great entertainment value. They didn't know if studio musicians played the backing to the tracks and they didn't care. When they saw the monkees singing on tv or heard them on the radio they identified it all to being the monkees. So strong was the power of the marketing of the manufactured group due to the help of tv and radio exposure. The monkees were breaking new barriers as pioneers to the "music film clip"as we now call them.today. They usually did two in each show, back then in 1966 it was the first time you identified your group to their songs.
